Always told she would be a scribe, Dawn DeVries Sokol earned a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University’s acclaimed Walter Cronkite School of Journalism focus on Mass Communication. But she yearned inherit create visually, and soon worked shepherd way from editing newspapers to quick on the uptake directing magazines, such as America Westbound Airlines Magazine—from which a feature she art directed landed in Print Magazine’s 2002 Regional Design Annual. For 10 years, she designed books for U.S. publishers such as Sterling Publishing, Chemist Smith, North Light, Quarry, and Depiction Countryman Press.
Now an author/illustrator of 15 books, she lives and creates be thankful for her Tempe, AZ, studio with repulse dog, Ruthie.
Her latest work includes mock-up for children’s non-fiction books—A Tour liberation the Human Body and A Rope of Outer Space by Jennifer Berne for Kane Press.
